As the holiday season approaches, I want to take this time to acknowledge our staff for their contributions to our success in the past year. I believe we have some of the most dedicated administrative staff, deputies, and civilian staff in the history of our office. I want to thank each and every one of them for their hard work and encourage you to do the same when you see them.
We have had several successes this past year that I am very proud of. Some of these include; upgrading jail visitation to video visitation. This allows the inmate to stay in his/her cell and visit through video conferencing. Persons can schedule visits at the jail or from home. We were able to secure bond monies to replace the roof, carpet and install an awning over the visitation entrance. These come in handy during the rainy season. In July, the Commissioners approved an agreement with Relias Training Software. This software allows Sheriff’s Office employees to complete required training online; enabling the County to save money by reducing traveling expenses of sending employees to training.
I would also like to acknowledge our community for their tremendous support and efforts in helping to make Bastrop County a safer place to live. We appreciate your input and assistance, and we are happy to know our website is important and useful to so many of you.
As we approach a new year, my commitment to the citizens of this County remains strong, and I will continue to work with you to improve the quality of life for the current and future residents of Bastrop County.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Sheriff Terry Pickering
